Christy Clark's letter

Mom was super affected by the Syrian crisis going on this summer.  In particular a photo of a little boy that looked just like my own.  Little Alan Kurdi touched my soul and I wanted to help Syrian refugees in any way I can.  After all, in 1956 our own family came here as refugees and depended on the help of others to thrive here.  We made Canada proud and I hope that the newcomers that Canada has committed to accept (10,000 to date) will be able to make a go of it here, in the best country on earth, as we did.
In 1956 Canada accepted 30,000 Hungarian refugees and Grandma, Grandpa and my ten year old mom were three of them.  10,000 by comparison is not a huge number.
Anyways, I went back and forth on how best to help out.  I donated to a couple of charities and spoke to my mom.  She suggested that the best thing I could do would be to help them out once they arrive here.  I thought about that and the fact that their health was probably neglected in the face of their realities in the recent past so I could likely help out with their dental health.
I saw our Premier Christy Clark crying on the evening news about the very same image I could barely stomach and decided I would offer my help.  I wrote an email to her and she wrote me back.
This is the letter she sent.
I honestly hope I can help some families out in this small way.

Dolly doll, ha!

Will went to Chilliwack!

On the weekend we were gone Will and Dad went to Chilliwack for the the 2015 BMX Nationals!  It was killing me that I couldn't be there but I was able to live stream the race from the Harbour Air office in Richmond.  I shortly got a message that I had used 70% of my data in one day...
So, this is what second place looks like for a Cooper.  Poor guy really wanted to get two wins to put him into Inter.  It was the Nationals for goodness sake!  I have no idea where he gets this competitiveness from...

He cheered up a bit once he was home. :)
I took his picture with his trophies and sent it in to the school and he got a mention in the Aspengrove newsletter.  Way to go Will!

Sea World

 Breakfast in bed!
In the cab like a big boy:
 Wow!

 You loved the whales.

 And the dolphins:

 Big fans:

 Teacups!  Your favourite!

Sea turtles and sharks were also a hit:

 Holy smokes!

I think I wiped you out.

An early morning means sleep on the flight.  You are so good with travel.
Love you so much.

San Diego

 Bye bye Wonder!
Well the reviews were right, you can sure walk from the cruise terminal to the Wyndham San Diego Bayside Hotel...this is the view from the balcony.
We had a swim!

 The USS Midway Museum:

We found a vintage carousel, fun!

 Even got a fly by!

This is a famous statue to commemorate the end of WWII.

We watched the Wonder depart and could hear the deck party from our balcony.  Lucky people!

The end of the Wonder Cruise

We spent our last day on the cruise in the California HEAT!  It was all of a sudden full sun and 80 degree heat!
We discovered that you met the height requirement for the water slide by a half inch (yes! with a fist pump) and I watched you go down the slide, back up and down again about a hundred times with no sign of abating.

 It's soo much fun!

 My handsome guy:

I can't believe mom is letting me drink fizzy pop!

 The old banana phone joke.

 I love the Disney Cruise!

Love this new discovery: the Shirley Temple!

My snuggle bug (we slept together every night).  PS you kick.

Bye bye Disney Wonder, hello San Diego!

Pirate Night!

We've actually never had a Pirate Night on our cruise before for this was a first for us and we went all out!  And so did every one else!
I had no idea it was such a big deal, we got all dressed up and fit right in!
There was a pirate party at dinner and then afterwards the Peter Pan show and then a huge party on the top deck where we set off fireworks in the middle of the ocean, yahoo!

It was quite a night!  We had a dance party on the way to the party...you stunned bystanders with your moves.  They were literally staring and commenting on you (especially your floor work..)

We were obviously super stoked about the Pirate Night and prepped for it...

 At the deck party:

Captain Hook rappelled down to the stage, picked up a guitar and rocked out!

Then Mickey ziplined from one stack to the other, it was amazing!
The fireworks went off and we just kept dancing!

A late night for us party people!
