We bought a house! A Treehouse!

On December 15th, 2014 we got possession of our log home on the sea.  We are in love with the property and are calling the little house the Treehouse.  We are going to try to live in it for our five year plan and then build our dream home.  For now we are looking forward to spending time in the yard and at the water this summer!

 No more for sale sign!

3.3 acres on the water!  Look at that yard!

We'll see what I can make of this space:

Duncan Christmas Train

On the way home from Victoria we stopped in Duncan to ride the Christmas Train, one of our favourite Christmas traditions.
It was lovely again this year.

 Santa made an appearance!

The Light Up Truck Parade

When Daddy and I lived in Victoria in 2005 for our first Christmas after dental school we lived just north of downtown. One Saturday night before Christmas we heard a ruckus outside and I went to the curtain and looked saying "It's some kind of line up of trucks with lights on them??"  We shut the curtains and hoped the noise would die down soon.  This year I read online that the Light Up Truck Parade was happening and we promptly booked a hotel and drove down to take you guys to it.  Oh how times have changed!

The trucks were definitely done up to the nines.  Blaring music and honking their horns, it was super fun!

 See you again next year!

A Weekend in Victoria

A couple of weekends before Christmas we went to Victoria for a getaway (and some Christmas shopping).  We went to the Bug Zoo and met all sorts of critters and Will was so brave!

A hotel with a pool is pretty much a necessity in our lives...

 Two cuties in a blanket!

Our Advent Calendar

The excitement about our advent calendar is palpable in the house as soon as it appears.  A good dinner earns a little boy a delicious candy treat every day of December!

We cut down a Christmas tree!

This year we thought you were both old enough to start this most excellent Christmas tradition.  We went to the Whiskey Creek Christmas Tree Farm and chose two perfect, small trees for you both to decorate.  You each got a turn with the saw, and no one even got hurt!

Afterwards we had LOTS of hot dogs and buns and ketchup and heated them up ourselves.  The trees looked amazing on either side of the fireplace.  A perfect day.

Gingerbread House

Grandma bought two gingerbread houses for us to build with you guys.  It was super fun for Grandma and I to decorate the houses while you two watched and ate the candy....
Pretty much!

The final product was indeed tasty!
And still going!
