In Mommy's Shoes

In keeping with your wanting to imitate everything we do lately you had some fun with Mommy's shoes last night! We heard this click click from the hall and you had these on - and were getting around pretty well in them!

You really do want to do everything we do, you must watch us very closely because sometimes I don't even know where you get these things. You will pick up my eye drop bottle and point it at your eye with your head back. You will brush your hair with my brush and of course brush your teeth (although you hate it when we do it!)
You want to sweep the floor when the broom comes out and climb the step ladder when I need to reach something on the top shelf.
You want to take things out of the fridge and clean dishes with a cloth. It is hilarious. When you're a teenager I will remind you of how you once wanted to be JUST LIKE ME.

Fishing in Bamfield

We all packed into the car and made the bumpy drive to Bamfield last weekend. Mommy's patient Mike does charters out there in the summer months and has been trying to convince us to come out for a while and we finally did it!

Maggie entranced by your cookies in the back seat.

You taunting Maggie with cookies...

Psych!

Kiss and make up?

Jennifer took a picture of the family on the government dock once we arrived in Bamfield-in one piece!

A good haul for first-timers!

Will pretending to eat for us in the kitchen at La Villa. Such a nice spot to stay.

You love your boots.

It was rainy on the way home. You slept for the one and a half hour drive along the gravel. It was so bumpy I was out of my seat at times. Your chin was shaking up and down and still you slept. You woke up 1km before we hit the pavement in Port Alberni. Go figure.

The sweetest face in the world.

Sushi and Cupcakes

Surprisingly, you like sushi. I guess it's the little baby bite-size packages it comes in or maybe the rice (you seem to be a carbs junkie like mommy), but whatever it is you gobble it up.
Double fisting sushi:

Mommy made cupcakes this weekend, and wouldn't you know it, they were a hit too!

This is the face you make when we say "Show me your cutie face!":

Yes, it was a mess. It's so much fun for you mommy gladly cleans it up!

Oh the joy!
As an addendum to this post, today was the day you said Dada for the first time. It was so much fun to ask you to say it over and over, we had been waiting so long! I think daddy is very much relieved since you had called him mama for 17 months...

Sproat Lake Labour Day weekend

Your first boat ride!
We went over to Sproat Lake to visit Lucien, Kimi and Emma this weekend and had some fun in the last of the summer sun. It was Labour Day weekend and it went by so quickly but we had lots of fun in the boat and on the pebbly beach playing by the water.

You and Daddy playing by the water. You really didn't like the feeling of those rocks on your feet!

Such nice sharing with Emma!

A day at the pool!

Last week Daddy and I took you to the Nanaimo Aquatic Centre to do some splashing around. We haven't taken you to the pool since your swimming lessons when you were quite young (and got an ear infection, grr) so this was a near new experience for you! You have always loved being in the water so I knew it would be a hit.
The water was quite warm and you were very excited about getting into it. I think your favourite part of doing activities like this is the freedom you have to get around and explore, although we watch you like hawks of course.

These photos are really such a small snapshot of what you got up to here. The pool has waves that turn on every 10 minutes or so and there were a couple of squeamish moments on your part when the waves were too big for your liking. But that's ok, mommy loves your clingy hugs whenever she can get them!

We put you in a little floating raft at one point but you didn't like that at all, and you kept screaming BALL! BALL! at the other kids playing with a ball in the water. We finally got our hands on one and you spent the remainder of our time at the pool tossing the ball into the water and retrieving it again!
I think you're still a while away from becoming a swimmer per se but we will keep at it!
