A trip to Edibles Farm

Today we four went out to Edibles Farm to see what they have on offer for us each season. We are so new to Nanoose so we're trying out all the local attractions so we can really feel like locals! They were having a Family Day at the farm so it was the perfect opportunity.

First, we explored the chicken coop (STINKY) where they collect all of their fresh eggs. Grandma says that this is how eggs looked in the 70s when I was growing up. Sort of having a rough shell and irregular shape. I guess even things in eggs have changed.
I am most excited about being able to buy local, organic produce for us, and to know that the chickens are walking about freely and not kept in tight quarters as we sometimes hear. I think it would be amazing if we could have you eating organic food for the bulk of your diet.
Next we went to the potting shed where we watched a bean being planted into the sea soil from the farm. We will have to do a less messy experiment at home...

We even found a swing for you and Daddy to play on!

Edibles has a program where you can buy eight weeks of produce baskets each season. They are available for pick-up each week and each week the baskets are different, full of their fruits, herbs and veggies. We will be signing up for sure!

Giamma comes to visit!

You caught a cold a few weeks back and you gave us quite a scare. Mommy took you to the doctor every week for three weeks now and an ear infection seemed to be the culprit but it never seemed to resolve even though you had been on antibiotics for 2 weeks. Then you started to develop this awful cough and this wheexing noise that sounded like it was coming from the depths...so we went for a third check to see what was up and the doctor told us to go straight to the hospital to see the pediatrician on call. Mommy has never been so scared.
Grandma booked a flight and Daddy met us at the hospital where they did a work up on you which we tried to make as much fun as possible and we got 2 chest xrays on you as well. It turns out that you are pneumonia-free and healthy again now but I think I aged 10 years in the process...

Now that Grandma (or should I say GIAHHHMA) is here things are great! You get to go on excursions daily and do all sorts of fun things! We found 2 great gyms where you can do gymnastcis and Grandma says you love it AND you are excellent at it from what Daddy and I can see. You know how to put your tail out (where you are on all fours and stick a leg out behind you) and you can do the spider which is super impressive where you back up against the wall in a downward dog sort of pose and then walk your feet up the wall backwards into a sort of handstand! I couldn't believe my eyes!

Grandma says that the teachers at Flipside Gymnastics are amazing and really spend a lot of time with you. You love the trampoline and the tumbling mat best, and you can even support your own weight on the rings!

We love that Grandma is here now so that you can do so many fun things during the week! Thank goodness for Grandmas!

Sunday Breakfast at John's Place

On Sunday morning we went out for breakfast at John's Place on Yates. It is a favourite of ours and you have actually been here before too. The last time you were here we had a booth and you had a nap on the bench while Daddy and I ordered more and more food so we could loiter until you were done your sleep!

This time you were wired and causing trouble with crayons and the like, but we did get this sweet shot. Thanks Daddy!

Aaron likes this spot because John, the owner, is originally from Windsor and there is a huge mural of Tiger Stadium on the wall.

Also, the Florentine Benedict was delish!

Aaron's First Birthday!

We were off to Victoria this weekend for little Aaron Spencer's first birthday. The tent was more fun for you and Henry I think! You had fun bouncing around with Daddy for a little while.

Weeee! I can just here you saying "MO." (More. Like when you want more cookie or more tickling or more jumping.)

Cate and Aaron, Henry, you and Daddy. So fun!

Little Sweeper

I guess you thought the driveway needed a little touch up before we left. You always want to do things that you've seen us up to so you were naturally drawn to this broom you must have seen Daddy use. We can give this job to you permanently whenever you're ready!

Two Peas in a Pod

By a bizarre coincidence...

On Saturday we were getting ready to leave for a night in Victoria and Mommy picked out your outfit...when Daddy came in he was wearing the exact same one! We didn't even put together that you both owned such similar cardigans, but voila!

Too cute!

The Fryers come to visit!

Last week Cam and April and little Lauren came to visit us in Nanoose. They stayed for just a few days but it was a nice chance to visit. Lauren is 10 months now and on the brink of crawling. You two couldn't play just yet but you were interested in her enough to come and look at what she was up to every once in a while.

Maybe next time we will get some good play shots of the two of you!
